Business opportunity in India - Need suggestions please

Dear All,

Do you guys/girls know about Contours Express? They are exactly like Curves for Women. They are not giant workout locations unlike traditional gyms. They are aimed at women, especially for quick workouts.

I am thinking about grabbing the opportunity of opening up Contours Express in India, primarily in cosmopolitan cities. Their website is www.contoursexpress.com

Please let me know what you guys think about the opportunity. Do you think that it is a good idea? Do women in India get attracted to Express workouts that are exclusive for women?

I have found out that there are so many equipment manufacturers selling the hydraulic equipment just like the ones at Curves. My other question is, what is the advantage in going with a franchise rather than buying the equipment and setting up a fitness place myself? Any input is appreciated.

My concern is why do I have go with a franchise and spend a thousands of dollars for the franchise fee when I know the workout procedure and when I can buy the exact fitness equipment for the same place from an alternate supplier? Is there going to be any advantage by owning a franchise of a franchisor that is popular and proven in the United States? Is that going to help the marketing side of the business?

BTW: Curves is currently not franchising in India and Contours Express is.

Kunal: Dear Spartan;

To your query, I would like to add as a marketing communication consultant, being associated with a brand which has already been excepted in other part of the world always help. Also in India, specialy in the metros people are very brand concious. So being associated with such brand would be very beneficial.
I am very sure that this venture would be very fruitful if the communication of the same goes correct

Dear Kunal,

Thank you very much for your input. I really appreciate it. Is there a way I can get in touch with you? My email is ptummala@yahoo.com and I am on Yahoo Messenger most of the day (USA Time). I surely have more unanswered questions and would like to take your recommendations. Thank you once again for your reply and I look forward to speaking with you.

Dear Spartan;

I have added you to my Yahoo Messanger. Would catch some time online. I would be able to provide some overview on the Indian mindset that will help you in analysing the market here.
