    Business Name Help!

    Hey guys!

I am starting my own "groupbuy" business service next coming year and having trouble thinking of a business name. For those of you who have heard of "Groupon, i am bascially starting one of those sevrices in my local area. For those who are not familiar, I am bascially starting a service that provides discounts and deals to groups of people in my community on interested services that business locals provide. The whole idea and concept of this service is to provide interestedcustomers with huge discounts and services so they can save.

So far, i have came up with the following names, but am accepting new ideas! Let me know what you guys think?

    1) whats the deal
    2) save with us
    3) deal us
    3) todays deal
    4) You save I save

    5) Lets save

I am trying to prevent long domain names or names with " . As some customers may have difficulty searching up my website.

    Thanks!

    Company Name

    Kitjaii,

As far as doing a hyper-local 'group buy' website, you will definitely want to do a domain search prior to finalizing your 'company name' ideas. I searched for some of your names above to see if the domains were available and it looks like: YousaveIsave.com is the only one that is available. You may want to think of something that is more of a 'catchy' word that you can brand. I like what these guys at Daily deals in Vancouver - Welcome to Grooster | Grooster.com (which is another hyper-local group deal site out of Vancouver BC) are doing.

Good luck and keep us in the loop of what you decide.

Thanks for the info. and tips! Yeah i did a domain search and some of them are taken.. I was thinking of registering .ca at first, but decided to go .com as of now.

I was thinking of Bigdeal, but unforunately it was taken. I want to come up with a name that represents the concept of you saving big, at the same time it can be done with a group of people.

    This should help

    Kitjaii,

I know it’s a hard coming up with a name for your business and I was once caught in that loop and I decided to go with my name which was easier in the long run.

Seems like you have a solid understanding of your business and you already have generated relevant names that are great for your business; I suggest you give it less thought and let the name flow naturally to you.

I hope you find the company name you are looking for and If you need any more suggestions please feel free to contact me.

    Good Luck

dont worry about integrating the concept of your business with the name. example - ebay. if you did not know what they did you would not be able to tell by the name. more examples - proctor & gamble, craigslist, google, amazon

get creative. the buzz now it seems is made up names. so have fun with it. if people can remember your name because it is crazy then you win

True . I guess i'll prevent the concept of following the trendy names that already exist. I'll try and think of something unique.

Traditional names occasionally perplex consumers so either have excellent publicity or use up-to-the-minute name.

Here, it is an applicable solution.

Pick "Today's Deal" as your company name and the slogan of your company should be "Lets save"

I wish you good luck, I am sure that your business will go higher and higher. Whatever is the name, quality should be superb to catch customers.

Use your local name, ex: if you live in St.Paul.... stpaulssaveon.com You could create marketing for radio, ect "Hey St. Paul, it is time to get your save on, right here." It is funny and easy to remember - where is it? (St Paul) and what do you do? (save on...)

There are so many groupon-like sites, I think it would be cool to have a local one, run by someone who knows what the community really wants and targets locally owned businesses. You can use the project 3/50 tool, (google search "the350progect") and really set yourself apart. Stay away from national chains, and do some research and feature writing to highlight these businesses. As a small business retailer, this would be something I would seek out to participate a deal in. This is something I would pay to participate in... If you want more advice, let me know!
