    Business Name

I am struggling trying to pick a name for my consulting comapny I am building. It will gear around the Microsoft product stack of consulting with emphasis on SharePoint. I am stuck with the two below. Any ideas or way to spice this up?

In the grand scheme of things, the name isn't very important.

The important part is to begin taking action and generating revenue. Don't waste time worrying about anything else.

Both are good enough. You can always change the name later or add additional 'Doing Business As' names under your registered business.

    Agree with Jawzishere

Do you have a business plan in place? If not, I can help with this.

Careful planning about your company name is important. I suggest you give it some time and rather more resources.

The right name is very important, it will be much harder to switch down the road if your company takes off. I know as we went through it and the biggest issue we faced was having to switch our web presence to the new name and it took a long time to get it all sorted out. I agree with Barbara, take your time and make sure whatever name you come up with is generic enough that it doesn't tie you to one area or one product. Good luck

When choosing a business name it is important to appreciate that Fair Trading may refuse to register a name in certain circumstances, for example:-
    1) it is the same as an existing registered business, company or incorporated association name
    2) the name or words in the name are restricted by Ministerial Prohibition or State or Federal law
    3) it will, in the opinion of Fair Trading, be likely to cause confusion during an inspection of the Register of Business Names
    4) it contains foreign language characters.

i don't agree with BarbaraKParker, ''Parvaze'' and bluestellar. trying to be too cautious. that's not an entrepreneur. entrepreneurs do market research, find products, take the risk, find a name and start making revenue like jawzishere said. it's that simple. that's what's important. name can be changed anytime. it's about giving great customer service and creating cash flow and re-investing the profit. for example what has mars go to do with chocolate????

It's not a case of being cautious it's a case of being smart. Good business people are pragmatic because business isn't about gambling it's about taking calculated risks. As I said, we actually went through a name change so I know how painful and expensive it was so given the chance to do it again I would spend a lot more time on making sure I had the right name to begin with.

We are tying to help give someone by giving them the benefit of our collective experiences so they don't make the same mistakes we have so you might want to slow down in your responses and try to appreciate where we are coming from :-)

Try to get the name right initially, but put more focus on providing a great service or product. If your name says what your product or service does, that is even better as it will be easier for customers to remember.

Do keep in mind that a name change can be costly if your business takes off not only from an economical standpoint, but also from a customer association to your brand standpoint.

Just my 2 cents. Hope I shed some light.

I agree with John. A name will not get you rich unless you lucked out with a domain name. Your networking capability and the quality of service will get you ahead IMO. The name is important but I think people complicate something that isn't that complicated. If you're choosing a domain name to match ur biz name then yea, but other than that keep it simple and to the point. I have absolutely no real world experience besides from what I'm working on right now. I've got a B.A in Business Mgmt "Small business entrepreneurialship"and a minor in ACCT. Business degrees are the new general studies degrees to be honest. I learned absolutely nothing in my core classes that's helping me now. Finance, acct, production mgmt, and econ helped me out the most.

First of all, you should ensure which kind of your business you want do.
Second, do you want to let your business involved in more industry in the future?
Third, if you use a business name extraneous to your business, do you have much money and time to let most people know of your business name and business?
before you choose your business name, you need to consider more.
