    Business in the Future

    Hi

In the next few years will there be more business opportunities appearing online or will there contine to be opportunities offline? My dream is to be an entrepreneur, however I'm not sure what area I should be looking at for business opportunities. I'm going to university in London in September so i'm not sure if I should look at starting a large chain or whether I should have an online business.

In the past many now multi millionaires have made there money from offline businesses such as gyms and supermarkets, however now amazon and facebook can give you equal success.

Is it best to look online or offline for busness opportunities?

    Thanks

    Charlie

Take a look at yourself. Assess your skills and interests, and go from there. Being interested in and good at what you want to make money doing can only help you. There will certainly always be a market online - the internet is going anywhere. Likewise, the world isn't going anywhere. As long as you manage to stay on top of trends and react accordingly, you should do fine in either realm.

Don't limit yourself to having online vs. offline as your only either-or choices. If you choose to start an offline venture, still consider using a website, store, and social networking/media to assist your marketing efforts and drive sales.

Both are equally as good. I believe there is 3X more competition online, then offline.

The secret to success is in a few words. "Find a need and fill it". What that means is like for toilet paper, everyone needs it. Those companies will always been in business because it's something people cannot do without.

So think up ideas and see if they have a need for it or not.

An example of a failed business would be like selling child proof doll houses.

I'm new here but from what I've read so far, there are a lot more people on here involved in online businesses. My business is a local service business, and while I plan on having a web presence, everything is done locally in my community. I think more and more people are leaning towards online businesses and I have no doubt that they will continue to grow. I want to eventualy have an online business too! But as ethan said, the world isn't going anywhere. There are many things that people need that they can't get online. Until that changes, offline businesses will still be successful.

o.k thanks! Would it be worth trying to learn web design as currently I don't have a business & have lots of free time? Or is this best left to the professionals and me concentrate on something else?
