    business idea with limited cash

hey all, i am currently a university student , i have worked hard in the summer while taking courses in school and end up saving around $2000. This term i have decided to start my own little diet website as a starter providing FREE online information/tips/diet plans/meals/fitness courses/facilities / blogs.. etc.. for my own little site. I do have excellent and strong research skills, along with creativty to get things running. My problem is that i have NO knowledge @ all in terms of making websites or anything related.

I have came across godaddy.com , is this simple to use for beginners? i am building a site starting from scratch with no knowledge in coding . Any recommendations for my little plan?

The goal of my website is obviously get ads running by next year , and maybe subscribers depending on how well it turns out?? What do you guys think?? Is it worth it? Waste or time?? Something better to be implemented? Am i better off finding people to make the website for me? and i do the editing later when the site is done?

Please let me know your inputs

Never let a web hosting company build your website, I've seen dozens of them do it and they do a horrible job. I recommend finding a freelancer to do it, or a small independent company.

The hosting companies all use templates, so your website will look the same as 1,000 others. Be unique!

Your best bet is to learn how to make web sites because if your business IS a web site you will need to know how to manage it 100% without relying on other people doing it for you. I say this because, if you are tight on cash it is hard to get an update, and without updates your site is useless. I run a web design company and if you tell me more details about your site I will tell you what a fair price is for custom design so you have an idea of what you are looking at.

Once you have a decent quote in hand you will know if a company is charging too much or if you have a good deal. So I hope I can help you in this aspect.

If you need any guidance or information let me know and I will help you out. I have 5 years web design and graphic design experience.

    Building Websites

Chris B. how difficult is it to learn how to build your own website? I have some great ideas for websites that could easily go global but I just don't know how to go about building them.

Hi Kitjaii, I went through a similar dilemma to you early this year regarding building my own website. I went to some website design classes and found that they didn't really help me. In the end I arranged a meeting with a design agency near my house and was given a very good demonstration of what they could do. In the end they offered me my own website for £1000 and then a hosting fee of £125 a month (this was for an e-commerce website so hosting is normally more than normal). Someone like Chris B will probably be the best bet without a doubt for you, as a small freelancer can work with you almost like a business partner! This would be a great option until you are generating some good profit and can afford a really professional site. Hope that helps, if you need to talk to me e-mail me on here - Good luck buddy!

I started out on dream weaver to learn the basics, and eventually learn to do html and php on my own. Tooks a few months but it was well worth it.

I suggest doing research on CMS. Joomla! will give you a website up and running within a matter of minutes. It's really that simple. The best thing about it is that it's free. For what you're working on, this would seem like the appropriate course of action. You don't need anything high tech; just something professional, and easy to navigate. Joomla! will provide this for you.
