So I have an idea to start up a forum. It will be a general local forum that I'd rather not get into details for obvious reasons.

First off, I full well do not expect to make millions (or do i??) off of this idea nor do I expect any sort of profits for 6 months to a couple years, but would like for it to be something to do on the side of working, even as a stepping stone to starting a real business. Plus, I spend enough time online and on forums boards for this to be something I enjoy and might as well try and make money doing.

In terms of marketing, I plan to hand out flyers/small advertisements everywhere I can within the forum's target area.

I do not plan on doing any sort of google ads or anything, but would rather have money come from local businesses support. With a large enough member base and activity to be worth it for businesses to even contribute, can this idea make a reasonable amount of bottom line?
