    Talking Building A Web Site

    Hey guys

I know this been asked many many times... Well, it's being asked again by a total website building newbie.

I need to make a website ASAP, I will be selling something, so I guess that will make it more complicated to build.

It doesn't need to look excellent, but in decent and trustworthy website, since I will be selling something.

If I was to build it myself, what do I need? Where can I get it? I already have the domain name, by the way, just got it today.

And I was to have someone else build it for me, how much and how long should I expect it to be done?

    Thanks!

The best advice I can give you is not to rush it. I have dealt with many, many web designers and I can tell you that the ones promising "only 5 days" or "3 day turnaround" are the ones that are sure to screw it up. They'll either never be able to finish it at all or it will take 4 times as long as they said it would. Same thing with pricing: Buy cheap, get cheap.

If you were to build it yourself you can either use a system such as OSCommerce or Zen Cart or you can learn programming and web design and build one from scratch.

I recommend hiring a very reputable professional design firm that can do the job properly and get it done on time.

A website is not an asset you want to cut corners or rush on. Websites can be a money pit in the beginning and time and money can go down the drain FAST, so take the advantage of having a reputable professional and the process will be a lot less painful.

    Good luck.

Hey, thanks alot for the info.

Yeah I know websites are not to play with, if you want it to generate $$$.

I guess I am rushing it, but it's because when I did my research today, I didn't find a site that sells it!

I can't agree more with what RLorenzen said... don't cut corners.

Zen Cart or Magento Commerce are both open source and good platforms to build a store on. We can help you customize either one after installation.

Google isn't as dumb as you think.
