Budget Phone Systems.... something more professional than an answering machine!

    Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a home telephone with more than just a regular answering machine. It'd be nice if customers called and it went straight into a recording, then allowed them to select an extension...

Is there a phone you can purchase that performs these types of functions "out of the box" ????

I'm looking for something more affordable than grasshopper.

    Thanks!

Not sure if you'll find anything better than Grasshopper.com. Having a home phone machine may be good in some instances, but you lose the added benefits of having voicemail emailed to you, text alerts, etc.

I am a beta tester for Google Voice (formerly GrandCentral), and get my Vmail services for free. If you like, see if you can sign up to be a beta tester, and use it while it lasts!

One of my FAVORITE business tools/services is Toktumi.com. I don't know about Grasshopper (first time I heard about it is now) but it blows Google's Grand Central out of the water. EDIT- just looked at Grasshopper, and Toktumi is definitely the BEST! It's $15/month unlimited calling, and you get exactly what you're looking for. They even do $10/month unlimited faxes as well. If you're interested, I am able to give away a coupon good for 2 months free, no strings attached. (I get a month free if you sign up)

I got an 888 #, and am able to let callers either pick one of my 3 extensions I've programmed, or let them stay on the line to be connected. The 3 extensions go to 3 cell #s, and there are options for individual voicemail boxes as well. I pair this with Youmail for my cell, and I believe it's a great setup.

They're even coming out with an iPhone and Blackberry app to allow for unlimited calling from your cell, using only your data.

    Let me know.

Here's the article if you care to read about it: Unlimited Calling On Your iPhone With Toktumi's Line2 App | Toktumi VoIP News

I'm so pumped about it, I got a friend to send me a iPhone he had laying around just for this app.
