Heyya guys,

Been thinking about this lately so i thought i'd share.

I've had a couple of meetings this week. One with a brand manager for a company who is also a favourite fruit of mine (no not orange) - and another with a company who own something called a search engine ;-) I think it started with G, and might be one to watch. ha

Anyway i digress.

Both of these meetings got me thinking about branding online and offline and its importance.

Alot of people buy these days based on emotional factors, and alot of good mainstream marketing focuses on the "buzz" factor surrounding a brand,and the story behind the company etc.

Tapping into emotional factors when marketing allows your product or service to stand apart, and often means price is not the key differentiator when people make a buying decision.

What are the brands that have an affect on you guys, and why do you think this is?

Is it because of there multi-million dollar marketing campaigns that hits home with you?

Or does the story behind the company inspire you, pull you in as a fan of the business etc?


For me someone like Google inspires me because of the company culture, and the "feeling" i get about the organisation.

Even so when it comes to the crunch in terms of buying advertising, my head and not heart dictates all decisions. For me ROI is more important than anything else....

No doubt that branding is a critical success factor for a lot of business nowadays.

Just look at some designer clothes, some of the brands i notice that the materials that they used are not that great and cost can be a lot cheaper than a lot of non-branded clothes, and yet consumers are still willing to purchase branded designer clothes as compared to those high quality but non-branded clothes.
