    Bike Shop

    Greetings.

I recently put some items up for sale around a local college, and I noticed that I've recieved more calls about my bike than everything else combined. It leads me to think that alot of money could be made with the high demand:

In one instance, you could sell used or discounted bikes, acquired by whatever means are convenient to you: wholesale, resale, etc.

In another instance, you could purchase a set of new bikes and rent them out. Simply take a deposit from the renter, and let them go. Over the course of the year, the renter will probably spend the same amount as a new bike in the first place.

What do you think of this? Do you have any suggestions for opening a business like this?

    Thanks

As long as the area you are renting in has high foot traffic, you should do great. Tourist hotspots, student hotspots, busy cities would be ideal. If I were to pick one location, I would do the city with daily rentals. Most of the people in the DC metro area commute to the city by Metro (public transit system) . Many of them still have a hike to get to their final destination. A small percentage bring their bikes with them, but that must be a pain. You could even lease them out to frequent users. The main selling point would be that they don't have to lug around a bike on the metro.

Pick one up when you get off the Metro, and drop it off when you get on.

Let us know if it works out.
