Question Biggest Problems Entrepreneurs Face in their Business (?)

    Hey Guys,

I've been wondering lately if there are any common problems that entrepreneurs face when building their business?

In the past some of the stumbling points for me have been:

    -Starting Capital
    -Getting customers
    -Sales
    -Marketing strategies and techniques

but I'm wondering if anyone is having problems more specifically and could shed light on them to help overcome any future problems I might have?

i.e. If anyone remembers some major problems they had in the past and how they dealt with them, it would be very much appreciated... Just want to try and pre-empt stuff if I can

also, I'm about to spend a bunch of money on marketing, so if anyone has had any problems in that specifically, and they've overcome it, it would be very helpful

    Thanks,

Starting capital is probably the single largest challenge of any entrepreneur, but mine have been more along the lines of being impulsive and not really thinking things through as much as I should have. I've started a few little blogs here and there that went up in smoke. Each one had potential but I made some silly mistakes.

I'm starting a new blog How to lend money for dummies , but it's only a journal that I keep to help myself and assist others who thinking about lending money to people as a business. It talks about my challenges, goals, and what not.

So far I've delt with nothing major.

Self-management is another big one. Many entrepreneurs have problems keeping a schedule and setting priorities. When you're running your own business that can be extremely difficult to deal with. Also balancing between your work life and home life can be difficult. A good way to overcome this is by creating a time management schedule, that includes all the tasks you have to do, and sticking to it. That means if you are in middle of checking your email, and the time slot is up, you must stop and move on to the next task. It will be difficult in the beginning, but will get easier with time.

I think the biggest problem is many entrepreneurs start businesses that are average or just flat out doomed to fail. So I don't think most people do the right research upfront b4 starting a business. Next of course would be undercapitalization or underestimating startup and operating costs.

i completely agree with gary, you become the role of all positions in a company structure... your idea could be good.. put if you don't know how to execute them, you will end up lost not know where to start or continue. If you dont have kids its a PLUS+ but if you do... a lot of things change. Its been hard for me to run a business and be a family man. You want to balance out both and succeed in both.

i think one of the problem is perseverance. starting a business is not hard... and you may find hitting obstacles... and a lot of people get discourage and give up. there has been so many days that i've have woken up and didnt have the energy to continue..
but i try to change my state of mind..

I think the biggest problem is the recession going on. It's hard to maintain current position with an economy like this
