Well thanks for posting this! If you have done a basic internship already then you are well ahead of many people. If you intend on getting in a specific industry by yourself as an entrepreneur down the road, why not find a job in that industry for now? Find an industry that you are passionate about and go there. Learn from the pros and then go out on your own venture and build a company! Good luck!

The pros of going to a big 4 firm are.
You learn how the corporate world manages clients, staff, and the overall business structure.
Being in consulting (and depending on your internship position) you probably get to dabble in different industries, which is definitely a plus if you don’t know what you want yet. You can see which industries you like while also picking up industry specific experience.

You also get to network a lot. I have had a friends leverage this opportunity. They met their future employers while working for them on big 4 assignments.

But once you hone in on what industry you want to go into. It is really important to get hands on experience in that field. The time you put into that specific internship will award you with the most value.

I am a Junior in college and for the past two years College Works Painting has allowed me to run my own exterior painting business. If you really want to learn about entrepreneurship, I would pursue something that allows you to really enter into that environment. You will experience the learning curve and emotions of what entrepreneurship is all about.

My suggestion is to just go and start something. This will force you to continue to take accountability for your education outside of the classroom.

    Good luck!
