Beginner Web Site Designer for new Business

    Microsoft Expressions Web or Dreamweaver?

Does anyone knows the pros and cons to these two HTML editors? Which would be best for my new web site design? Or is there another Editor you suggest?

If you have to go with either I'd choose Dreamweaver. The best option is to use a text editor.

I don't have an idea with MS Expressions Web. I know a lot who use Dreamweaver and there's no problem with it. Maybe if you check their sites and read reviews about these softwares, you'll know the pros and cons.

I fully agree with Vocoder, use a text editor, preferably notepad.

In my experience... it's best to start with that, so when you use Dreamweaver, you understand what each option is, and how to fix small issues. Plus you'll learn how to code, and it'll make your sites THAT much better, and that much cleaner. So learn your HTML tags!

What is the site going to be used for? Marketing? E-commerce? Blogging?

well I use Dreamweaver. I been using it for awhile and still dont know everything about it. you can download a 30 day free trial from adobe.com

Try it out yourself for free and see what you think. You might even be able to design your site before the trial is up!

    Thanks everyone,

The site is going to be used for an online magazine that I am starting. It's an idea I have and I really don't have experience with designing a web page at all, so I have a lot to learn! I know all about web optimization though, it's what I do at work. But I'm trying to save myself money by learning how to create the web site myself! That way I can manage the site myself too...

Anyone have some suggestions for places to go for HTML Tutorials? For me, it's kind of like trying to learn HS Spanish all over again.

    Thanks Again!

My personal recommendation would be using NotePad++.

    http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm

But for more advanced users, DreamWeaver would be the choice to go with.

I learned by text editors and I've begun using frontpage - it does alot of automatic formatting I dislike but because of my background with pure html it's easy to make the corrections I want.

    I suggest www.Htmlgoodies.com
    That site is da bomb

I used Dreamweaver to make my first site [memyownboss.com plug plug plug plug hehe] I like the what you see is what you get format, especially if you don't have time to learn coding well enough to make your site look better than an eight year old's. On top of that, the split screen option lets you view code and the actual page at the same time, which can help you familiarize yourself with what code results in what.
