Been on hold with Dell for 44 minutes

A few months ago I purchased two computers from Dell for my company. The computers came in with all the software installed including my office programs. Just recently the office software has locked and I'm now being asked for the product key to use the software again.

I've now spoken to three people at Dell and they are all telling me that they can not give me the product key for the software that I purcahsed from them. I'm currently on hold waiting for a manager that I think may not be coming. Has anyone else ran into this problem? I paid each version of office and I think I'm entitled to my product keys.

And no I don't have my disks... and no I don't know where they are... and yes I understand that my keys are on those disks.... if one more person from Dell tells me that I'm going to be making a trip to their office tomorrow...

Exclamation DELL has perfect mass production - and tech support in india...

If you have paid for that software abour $400 (MS office that is) than DELL must have included the CD with your system. If you have not paid that, they still include a trial version, which runs out in like 30 days..

I have started a company 4 years ago, and we'll be selling computers as well. One of the reasons I went into this, is because i absolutely hate dell and their systems all together. All of the systems are bloated with trials, slow (because made of crap hardware), and support is in INDIA.. WTF?

argh.. just a thought of dell makes me angry. Im sorry they are putting you through this.

next time (once we launch), you can shop at Akvilon Studio where you will get every dollar worth and all the support if you ever need it.

I'm switching my company to Macs when I can afford it... I thought Dell was bringing their tech support back to the US. I talked to a guy who said his name was John... he was in Manila... I HIGHLY doubt his name was John and I'm still trying to figure out what the hell he was saying.

DELL has always had support for "GOLD" members in US, that does not mean that all of them are english speaking..

saying DELL has good computers is like saying Budweiser has good beer..

I guess people have different encounters for different problems. I received good service from Dell last time I spoke with them.

If you decide to take a trip over to the Dell offices in Nashville, let me know...I'll meet you there so I can watch you yell at them in person.

On a side note, Verizon is moving one of their regional headquarters about 20 minutes from my house (actually in between work and home) near Nashville...I can't wait to go to their building and yell at them in person!!

Good luck. You might be able to try MS directly.

    Verizon is always fun....

I've been using Dell's ever since I got into working on computers on a daily basis. They have so many limitations on their call center people now that you have to talk to five people before you can find someone who even knows what you are talking about. I have decided I will never buy from them again... and this was before I got a phone call that another one of our computers crashed.. its a laptop that is less then 2 months old... I'm just done with them...

I hear ya. The Govt all uses Dell computers (AF at least) and we're in the process of switching to HP. I dont like either of them. Gimme an Apple any day of the week. Yea, as I type this on Windows Vista - lol! I bought my newest comp from MagicMicro in Ohio (I ordred online.. it's a podunk little operation), but I know I can call and talk to anyone, the owner, etc... F dell. good ol' Mr Dell started small, got his $$$$ and left it to india. Oh the joys.

I absolutely hate Dell, their computers are such a ripoff its not even funny. They used to have good systems/support about 6-7 years ago. Then they got their name out and the company went to shit.
