Average Web Traffic for startup???

How much traffic did everyone else out there with a website get in their first Month, 6 months, and year??? What techniques did you use most ....SEO, Pay per Click,link exchanging, affiliates, word of mouth???

It really depends on what you mean by start-up.

The principles can be the same though. Back during the Presidential campaign of 2004 Ben Mack put up a site: What Would Bill Hicks Say I think that was the address. It received over 500,000 in about 30 days.

His philosphy is the relevant truth principle. What is currently going on in your industry that everyone is talking about and use that to drive traffic to your site.

You might even want to contact Ben Mack and see exactly how he did it. Just google him.

I don't get too much traffic to my blog right now, but I think I am doing pretty well for being a serious blogger for about 4 months. I am averaging about 1000 uniques a month and about 2.2 site views per visitor. 55 percent of my traffic comes from referrals on friends sites and in signatures on forums. 25 percent come from organic search traffic with the help of the seo plugin from wordpress and 15 percent is direct traffic. I don't advertise my blog at the moment, I am not there financially yet.

I find that posting good content on forums has been the most beneficial traffic source. If you can supply people with good info they will often times click on your signature links.
