Attorney Fees? How much $$$ Will it cost.

I have been looking at starting up a Corporation for online distributing. I'm still trying to learn more about it.

This may sound naive, but I really need to figure out a ballpark figure for the cost of hiring an attorney or someone to take care of the paperwork and other legal stuff needed to start a corporation.

Any general number for a price would be greatly appricated.

That's ridiculous. $250 an hour is not average. Where did you get that number from?

It depends on a number of factors, such as location, area of law, specialist v. general practice, etc.

    Correct!
There is no such thing as an "average" attorney's fee.... they'll charge what they can get away with.

So, can I find someone for less? How necessary is an attorney if I am starting up a small corporation? Can I get by without one?

Again, depends on what area of law you're talking about. For more simple work that any attorney can do straight out of law school - simple contracts, as an example - $250 isn't necessarily average and reasonable.

Nope. LanternLegal.com is NOT good for legal advice. If you've already received advice, it may not be bad, but if you're using them without already having received advice, you might be in for trouble.

Normally I would say just do it online for a few hundred dollars, as there's no way I'm paying the fees my law firm charges ($650hr),but the OP sounds like he doesnt have the first clue about the requirements.

Call around and set up an appointment. Normally, you will get an initial consultation at no cost. You'll not only know exactly what they will charge, but you will learn a lot (possibly even enough to have someone like bizfilings.com do it for you) through the whole process.

Keep in mind that the online sites are an inexpensive way to do the filings but you have to know what you want and/or need. They do NOT offer legal advice.
