Do you write your own sales letters?

Do you split test your sales letters and or landing pages to see what converts best? How many times roughly do you split test, if so?

P.S. Don't waste your energy on hecklers.

Testing is the name of the game.

I split test nearly everything. Ads in PPC, Sales copy, landing pages, graphics...

It all matters, and it's all worth testing. Once I get into a certain conversion rate, or around a 50% ROI, I try to leave it alone.

Testing is critical, but you'll never perfect anything. So yes, test, test, test. But don't become so obsessed that you're wasting time trying to fix something that isn't broken.

And yes, I do write all of my sales copy. That's a talent that I feel helps me to succeed. Graphics on the other hand, I outsource all day long.

    Hi Scott

Before asking anything, I want to say thanks for opening yourself for questions. If people aren't willing to see the extreme benefit of it then they missing out.

I have been dabbling around with making money online, but have just been limited to mostly blogging and adsense. I need something much bigger though. How would you suggest I start out? I have mostly just been reading up what others have to say, but it's nothing concrete.

    Thanks in Advance
    Jono

    Jono,

I prefer CPA advertising. Look into Azoogleads, Copeac, and Neverblue ads.

Find an offer you'd like to promote, and jump in and try it.

I personally hate adsense. $20 leads are a lot more fun than .05 clicks.

I asked you a question "What are some tricks of the trade that you've learned "

since you said you're here to answer questions and free advice never hurts.

what you answered with was "The book in my sig has a huge chapter covering everything I know about adwords."

Gee, thanks for the advice. You gave no advice, only hinted that if i BUY your e-book I'll learn what you know.

You offered advice and then instead of giving advice you tried to sell your e-book.

    What am i missing here?

I'll lay you 10-1 at $100 that I have no idea who Jono is.

Alright, here's a better answer to your question... tricks of the trade.. hmm..

What where you promoting? How targeted was the traffic? Where your keywords short or long tail? Did you use broad, phrase, or exact match? Was your website optimized for quality score? What was your CTR (A low CTR leads to high bid prices).

Did you have your title tags, ad text, h1 tags, and on page content relevant to the keywords?

You started bidding low. That probably lead to a lower CTR thus a higher price per click to get any significant traffic. Start off bidding higher, get your CTR up, and your bids will fall.

Has the domain been Google slapped?

Can you see why I can't exactly write a forum post on "the tricks of the trade to PPC"?

That's why I wrote a freaking book on it, it's a lot of information to cover. And think whatever you want about me posting here, I'll be around here for a long time, I don't really give a sh*t what you think.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks,

    Scott

clp11479 go do something productive with your time.

Scott, what tools do you use to split test ?? Are there tools you can use that will split test different landing pages with different visitors for you? For instance visitor 1 visits the site and sees a different landing page than visitor 2?

    Scott,

How do you go about testing which landing page works in favor for higher ranking than others?

    Thanks,

    Brian

You don't test for ranking, you test for traffic conversion
