    Question asian grocery store

I am working on a business purposal for an asian grocery store.
Nothing is set in stone yet. This is something I'd like to pursue but I need to do more research on it. I am having difficulty finding distributors and asking for quotes for wholesale items. Many of them won't give prices without a tax id #. Should I get a tax id # even though I'm not 100% sure this is what I want to do? How do I go about these steps so that I can include this in my purposal. I didn't go to school for business and would just like a dew opinions.. if there are any out there. Thanks.

    Hi Mai,

Welcome to YE! It's great that you're looking to start your own business. When you say a business proposal, are you talking about a business plan so you can get financing? If so, you'll definitely need all the numbers so you can run financial projections. More than anything else financiers are going to want to see that this business is going to make money.

As for the tax ID#, it won't hurt anything to get it now. Assuming you're in the US, it doesn't cost anything, and it's a simple process. Here's the LINK.

Good luck to you, keep us posted, and don't hesitate to ask your questions as the arise.

    To your success!

John's right. Grab a tax ID # and get those quotes! You can update any information that changes later with the IRS if/when you launch your business.
