40 major companies and brands that are on Twitter

There's the article. Its pretty interesting to see all these companies on Twitter and how businesses seem to do so well using it. Maybe we can all learn what some of these big companies are doing.

I find twitter nothing but a site full of people promoting there own service, last time I logged onto our companies account the 'latest feed' feature was full of useless and pointless links!

You can follow the people you are interested in. It matters how you do it.

Why are you following these people in the first place if their tweets do not interest you?

Here's a tip for you. Download a Twitter application called Tweetdeck. After having it set up, start a search column with a term that is related to your business. At the bottom of the column, there is actually an icon which you can use to filter tweets. To filter out self promotional Twitter users, simply choose "minus" and type in "http://".

Hope the above tip can improve your Twitter experience.

Twitter is cool. Sure there's a lot of idiots and spammers annoying everybody but, Twitter is working really hard to get rid of those people. If done correct Twitter can be a great way to network, and grow your business as well.
