Some events are social networking so if you want to tell people about your ideas or get help with them, you can ask people. Or maybe you want to partner with somebody on a project? If you own a business you can give advice.

There is a thing called E. Bootcamp at the University of Virginia. They are seminars and they have well known figures from the united states come and talk and answer all your questions.

These events are free, and anyone can join. The E. Bootcamp has about 80 people attend, and the social network had around 30 - 35. Let me know if you are interested.
