Any ideas on selecting an overseas Manufacturer?

We are in the shoe business and are currently working with a chinese manufacturer. However we hear that in a few years the labor rate will be going up in China and goods will become more expensive to make. Is this true?

If so, does anyone know of another country that manufacturers quality goods at low prices?

It going to be a long time before a small business will see savings going to another country other than china. The labor rate may be going up, but you are worried about much more than the labor rate. Elements like design and packaging are all things that go into the final price of a product and currently china is the place to purchase finished products ready for export. Huge corporations that are worried about every penny and only contract parts of the manufacturing process are much more worried about labor cost than you should be.

It is really important to find a good supplier in China and then leverage them into better pricing.

Theres nothing more cheap on labor rate than Nicaragua, we have 4 to 6 Chinese manufacturers in Nicaragua. if you need something pm me

i am interested in overseas clothing manufacturers. I have my designs but i need a company to make them for me. do you have any ideas or companies you can refer me to?

Totally agree with Adam, the labor cost in China will surely rise in the next a few years, but Chinese suppliers will try to promote the quality and keep their prices competitive.
