Any Idea about Small Magazine?

Hi Everyone,

I'm pretty new here and would like to share my business idea with everyone here and receive opinion from all of you.

I'm a Malaysian and 24yo. I had just finished my degree in Australia and going back to my country soon.

What i'm thinking is.. A Beauty Magazine for Guys..

I've no idea how it's work for a small magazine company.. but this is a good idea for my country tho..

So anyone would like to give me some opinion ??

Thanks a lot.

start small and local, and grow from there.

Make sure you know your target market, and make sure you content is top quality.

Have you thought about starting it as a blog, and expanding into print once it becomes more popular?

Hi Richkid,

Thank you for giving me valuable information However, would you please answer my question listed below?

1. What did you mean by the content have to be top quality?

2. Have you thought about starting it as a blog, and expanding into print once it becomes more popular? --> like write a blog first and then print magazine when it's become famous?

And yeah.. I will start locally and grow from there.. any other important information that I need to know? Guys? Any opinion?

Thanks

1. If you are making it a magazine straight away, I would suggest you get well know writers in the fashion field to do your articles, this will give advertisers more reason to trust a startup.

2. With the growth of the internet you can make as much money online with a blog (note John Chow et al) as you can offline. So Why not start it with a blog about mens fashion & beauty, build your reader base, and gain some credibility in your market, then launch into a magazine. This is also a way to test the market!

mattonline - you mightn't buy it but that doesnt mean their wouldnt be a market. I think a lot of builds would buy something like that expecially the metrosexuals.

I am not saying you have to. I am just saying that it will give your magazine more credibility to the advertisers

It's ok to consider richkid's suggestions. Remember that you will spend money on this and it takes risks, too. I also think a blog will help. Best of luck!

no, you are way off the mark in every conceivable way and statistic

...i'm not even gonna comment on the notion of launching a metrosexual magazine in a deeply muslim country

utter absurdity

you might as well slap up a girlie bar in Kandahar
