Upon visiting your website, i was slightly confused as to exactly what it is and what you have to offer. It seems like there may be too much going on all at once. Remember, keep it simple!

Please, please, PLEASE remove that horrendous flash tag cloud from your home page! I hate tag clouds, but that one in particular is just so incredibly distracting and annoying!

Otherwise, the site doesn't look too bad. As Lambo said, though, the site fails to capture my attention on the home page. I do not know precisely what the site is about, therefore I am inclined to close the browser window.

    thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback, I'll have to think about how I can simplify and display the meaning and purpose of the site on the front page... (I'll look at moving that tag cloud too)

Hey man agreed that tag cloud is annoying as hell.

Also if you want to PM me I have a business plan sitting and waiting for me to do something with that is fairly similar to yours but with a more direct approach with potential to be a high earner (not saying yours isn't) Maybe we could come to an agreement on partnership to save me starting from scratch. (As long as that tag cloud is totally gone lol)

    hey David,

I'd echo the sentiments of Mark, Lambo, and Conor: You need to get rid of the Flash banner

I would also recommend the following changes:

    1. Provide clear, and concise content in the upper portion of the screen. Most users are not going to bother scrolling down on your page when they arrive, so your site needs to make it clear right away what it is that you are providing

    2. I would move to a single (or at most a 2 column) column layout. 3 columns with disparate information in each is just too much to comprehend for visitors

    3. I would change the Title of your home page to provide a description of what it is that you are offering. You could also use your slogan in it. This will help visitors understand what you do. It will also help your SEO results. Lastly, when someone sees your website in the search results, it will say something along the lines of: WorkingTravellers | Resources for those working abroad (instead of just Working Travellers); yes, I made up the slogan, but just use one that you think of instead obviously

    4. There are broken links in your menu bar; I would fix them or remove them

    5. I would remove the Job guides menu from the left side. I would add it as a 'Search Jobs' menu item at the top of the screen instead. Then they can go through jobs on a separate (dedicated) page

    6. I would find a new banner image for the top of the screen. I like the one you have (it looks interesting), but it doesn't convey any meaning about what it is that your website provides

I think your website has definite potential, and you are on the right track. If you are serious about improving it further, you could look into conducting a heuristic website evaluation too. This would provide you with a 'checklist' of sorts, that you can compare your website against.

It looks nice, but like the person above said, keep it simple.

Like stated before I am just confused on what exactly you do. And I know the cloud has been talked about before but what does it mean? Is it the places you have done work from? or what?

Thanks again everyone, this was a worthwhile exercise. I now realise that my site is way too cryptic to understand. In a nutshell StartupSidekick was spot on the money, “Resources for those working abroad “ More expansively, a site where people can share up to date info, tips ideas, knowledge and opportunites for those that are currently or want in the future to be a working traveller. I’ll be making changes geared towards delivering this message on the weekend and seeing what you guys think about it next week. (tough audience ;-)
