    Anxious to take the risks!!!

Hello everyone how are you doing? See I have been contemplating whether to ask this question, but I am very interested in all opinions and/or thoughts.

See I have a web hosting business that is only months old, and have a few other online ventures that I believe will be very successful, and I want to give my full 110% attention to them, so as to succeed and be able to help others, make a profitable living and get to spend tons of time my my beautiful wife and daughter. But with me having Narcolepsy, and working 50-55hrs a week time is limited, between business my family and getting the sleep I need. I know it probably sounds like excuses, but after 2 car accidents I don't plan on messing around with my Narcolepsy anymore.

SO my question(s) is: They say the bigger the risk the Bigger the reward, so I have been thinking of just taking the risk, and get my 2 business ventures going full force and quitting my 8-5 JOB? I know there are things to think about, like insurance and money needed until up to full force, but if I don't just take the risk, I'm afraid I'll be stuck in a rut that I won't be able to get out. So is this a smart move? Any thoughts or ideas to do this in a different manor? Has anyone else done this or had the desire to do this before?

Thanks in advance for all your input.

I hope you have enough saving to last a few months if no income comes in? Or maybe live of the wifes income if possible?

Taking risk sucks. Ive sent thousands of dollars to China in the past few weeks - just hoping like hell the products arrive all right and they can sell. When your a student with thousands of dollars debt to the government it isn't the best feeling.

Your risk is going to be much bigger Get ready for stress and headaches.

Speaking of stress. I was reading an artical about the stress all entreprenuers have to deal with - was interesting! So your not alone in being anxious

    Good luck,
(yeh I know this post was worthless - but im on bored and on the hunt for another $1000 to buy more inventory, banks close in 1hr, wonder if I'll make it?)

    Good luck

We all have to take risks just calculate and research into the risk as much as possible. Is there any chance you can work part time somewhere else while the start up is in process. Remember Dream with the heart think with the Head.

I understand that your narcolepsy is a seriously debilitating condition, correct? If you could have a doctor verify that it prevents you from safely driving to work and back, you could always sign up on disability, workman's comp, etc, etc. I understand that it is a very dangerous condition, and this would not only keep you safe, but also allow you to have the time you need to put toward your business(es). Just a thought!

Paul- You know what I have thought of that before, but always thought to myself, "no you'll just be looked at as taking advantage of the system." Bc you are exactly right on an old medicine I almost had the third accident( would have been the 1st knowing I have Narcolepsy) bc of falling asleep. So that is something I'll have to look into, bc that would definitely give me plenty of time..
    THANKS

You sound like you need to think this through a little more.

Honestly, if your CURRENT ongoing revenues from your various ventures + your current savings aren't enough to completely sustain you and your family, with room to wiggle, for at least 6 months or so, you need to wait until that's the case.

I'm all for taking the big risks and making the big money, I've put tens of thousands of dollars down on the line to see ventures go through (always MY money, not someone else's), but I've only done it when it didn't immediately jeopardize my personal financial situation and my ability to keep my head above water.

It's about the ability to take risks but it's also about patience. Above all, it's about having the JUDGEMENT to know when to do which.
