Arrow American Assistance Organization

The name is pending, but I had to call it something, let me know what you think about that!

Anyway, this is going to be my non-profit organization. It's function is going to be helping active military, military children, and future military with financial and transportation needs. I will have something for retired military in the future, but right now I figured I needed to keep my scope narrowed.

Active military will be sent care packages. I know there are already people who do this, but I don't feel like we could ever send too much support and love over seas. Whether we be at war, or if it's someone at a non threatened base. They deserve our love.

Military children who's parent(s) were injured, whether it be on duty, or off duty, will be given the chance to apply for scholarships and/or grants for schooling. Now, there are also Organizations that do this, but most of them require the parent(s) to have been wounded in action. (Though I'm accepting links and information about all orgs that do military scholarships).

And for our future military, we're going to offer fee and transportation assistance to our local recruiters of all branches. Military ready testing costs money, and requires people be at certain places at certain times. I do understand most recruiters want to be with their recruits every step of the way. But when that schedule gets tight, or someone needs a little extra help to get going, we'll be there.

So those are my start up plans, I still have A LOT to do with the legal side of it, I need a board of directors, I need a lawyer, and I need to get incorporated. But I'm looking for opinions/advice on what our mission is so far, and if anyone has a better name for it I'll take those too! But if there's anyone here in the Clearwater, Fl vicinity who would like more information on the org, and possibly volunteer for a little until we get up and running PM me, and I'll be more than happy to let you in on it!

Thanks all!

Impressive... you may be trying to do a bit to much right off the bat. I didn't see you mention how you were going to get the money to fund any of these programs? It is very hard out there for start-up charities. The government is giving less and less money and private donors are being lured towards well known established organizations.

I work in this industry and have seen start-ups struggle for 10+ years before they start getting government grants. I would recommend you go speak to the SBA/SCORE Counselors as your next step. They can give you a better overview of what you are getting it to.

I do hope this works...as a prior service member I would love to see more programs like this.
