All Web Designers Check This Out

    Hey guys,

You heard some talk in the past about DesignGrail.com. It was going to be a subscription site, but I decided to put it up as a blog and provide information for free first. My goal is to provide something that will help young freelance designers get their footing and make real money as a freelance web designer.

Enjoy! Would love some feedback on my first blog post.

    http://www.designgrail.com/

    Best,
    Calvin

I think your content is fantastic, very well written an.

What you need to do now is build a community of readers.

Build your rss feeds, and give readers a reason to come back.

I have just implimented a top commenters list, and my comment count has exploded.

Commenting on others blogs is another great way to get readers.

Awesome content! Well written. Although if I may say, the work done here in the Philippines are far more greater than the ones made in India, and plus the fact that we speak better english than them, no offense though, i just though Id blurt it out.

Anyway, my 2 cents, outsourcing jobs and projects or what not would entale alot of quality work done at a cheaper price, although I do not think that this would be a threat nor rather something to be concerned with. Like what you said, when the web thing started a brochure type website would cost you $3500 and thats the problem right there. There are really no solid guidelines on how to rate this things - mostly base on a persons, experience, expertise or confidence and skill to sell or sometimes ego

One advise to green horns out there, and this really worked for me being in the web design business, is that... More often than not, clients, project, opportunities are right in front of us. Problem is, we look to far ahead that we miss it completely.

    Just a thought!

btw, I'm looking for business partners for an offshore business opportunity. Let me know if any of you guys might be interested - in entails low labor cost and high profit margin.

Nice site. One small thing I noticed: the site is slightly too wide for a 1024x768 display... and I mean very slightly, I have a horizontal scroll bar that moves about 1-5pixels. Also, I would pad the content a little, its all the way at the left edge.

Sorry, I am not a designer. Worse yet, I am a business owner wanting to tap into the market.
    Very well written.
It will continue to get tougher and tougher for freelance designers so I suggest that if you can not beat them you will need to join them. I have came up with an idea to have all the entrepreneurs together to beat the national companies in this arena.
What is necessary to be successful in a website dev company? marketing, design, programming, hosting and content. Well if you piece that out and work together you can get the volume everyone needs to compete in the modern market.
You seem to understand the market pretty well with your website. Perhaps we can all work together? check out http://dan.buibase.com my content is terrible but never the less a concept that make sense.

This is what I'm working towards with a couple partners already. If you have real money to invest, any helpful ideas on how this can work, or want to be first in line to get programming/design work, pm me.

    love the content.

it seems fresh, and not one of those "paid-to-blog-but-not-trying-to-make-it-obvious" sites.
