    Question Alibaba.com

Has anyone used this website to find manufacturers to dropship products? Are they reputable? Any problems?

    Thank you

AHha, it is the China's biggest B2B, where you can find a lot of Chinese manufactures, they are very good suppliers, always can give high quality and good price's goods, you can have a try, and the service also very good.

Be very careful on these sites, alot of people will get gold certified by scamming people a few grand.

Best is to use these site and have an independent sourcing agent check out the site and give you reports.

The extra cost of a sourcing agent, is an insurance that you don't get scammed and that there is an actual factory rather then just some 17 year old kid who found a couple of pictures on the internet, made a website, and is ready to cash in on thousdands.

My horror story was buying bluetooth headsets, the sample was awesome. Then i bit the bait and got suckered. Here I am in China seeing the opportunities to help others and myself.

Never used alibaba or similar sites. However, I know a guy who buys a lot stuff in Asia (China and South Korea). He goes over there himself to check out everything. I can see how using a sourcing agent would be a good idea.

Alibaba.com is not for the casual eBay/ecommerce dropshipper. Alibaba is meant to be used for businesses to connect with eachother, and for large quantities of items to be exchanged.

I haven't used the services of Alibaba yet, but I'm planning to do this. However I might be a bit more careful after reading this topic.
    Thanks for the tips.

In my opinion, Alibaba.com is like the craigslist of Chinese manufactures. There are legitimate companies on there, but there are also lots of illegitimate ones looking to scam you out of money. Since all Chinese factories deal in cash only there is a huge chance of being ripped off. (The scams are numerous – giving samples made by other factories – taking unnecessary deposits and not delivering the goods – stealing the information of a "gold supplier" to lure customers) On top of that, even legitimate factories are often difficult to deal with because their English level is poor and they are no honest about production delays or quality control issues.

I run a sourcing consultancy (I help my clients locate factories and buy products in China) and believe me, I do very careful checks on any factory I choose for my clients because there is NO chance of getting my money back if I am not satisfied with the product. In addition, I maintain an office in China so that I can have my personnel on-site at the factory making sure the job is done right. Best of all, because I have a registered business in China as well as the US I can buy products at the "Chinese price" and often save my clients a lot of money and time.

Whatever method you choose to purchase your products, please research the business extremely carefully before committing to anything or sending anyone any money. I would be happy to help you if you have any questions.

Actually, it's GlobalSources. But yes, they are better than Alibaba. Try researching the two, or individually to ease your mind and make sure that you'll avoid getting scammed.

Another scam to stay clear of is Bayt.com. This website is a money making scheme. They initial services are free and then they force you to pay $250 to create a CV or remain jobless. This is not fair, this is fraud, the are cheating people out of the money they rather use to survive in the countries that $250 really matter.

I have found out the owners name, its Rabea Ataya, this guy is a fraud, scam. He has a very bad reputation in the GCC countries for coming up with money making scams. I did some search on the web and found a lot negative articles on Bayt.com and I am not sure how they can still have an office in Dubai.

There is a way to complain to the UAE authorities its called Al Ameen Services Al Ameen complain here if your have lost $250 for Bayt.com CV creating service.
