    Adverts are NOT Cool!!! Really?

We have all experienced it and most of us hate it. We hate it when we go on a website for information and we are bombarded with ads. Be it google ads or the lycol ads that appear before every video we start we just find it irritating. So we all say ads are not cool, right?

Though the question still remains, why are they still ads on the internet now more than ever. We don’t like them, so why are they still increasing. Well the reason is simple even though we claim its not cool or we hate to see them, most of the new things we get to know are by ads. Why is Geico getting popular, its cos of their short catchy 2 minutes ads on youtube like Elmer Fud. Why are the only air refreshners we buy are febreeze. Same reason. So ads may not seem cool, but we all need them. Its like the short and easy way for us to get uploaded on a product. Now in some cases they may be really irritating like when you log onto your myspace profile and are bombarded with ads everywhere.

However ads are a integral piece of our internet experience. Can you imagine the web without advertisment. It won’t be the same. How will you be able to get some of the latest trends.

Some websites just based their product on offering advertisements and did very well, this is on of the latest ones. The Business Poster.

In short, online ads are wildly successful because they produce a positive ROI for marketers. I think it has less to do with learning of trends (thought this is an interesting thought) and more to do with context - I see an ad now for what I need now. That's why the U.S.' new proposal for Do Not Track legislation is of concern to me. Online advertising becomes much less attractive to marketers who cannot (with users' consent, of course) track non-identifying Web usage data and use that to target ads. Unfortunately, the political process in the U.S. is such that representatives and government staffers are politicizing Web tracking and doing Web surfers a tremendous dis-service. If a user submits his or her name to a Do Not Track database, this disables all cookies, including those that remember login information and present customized data such as local weather forecasts. Security settings already exists within Web browsers that enable users to control cookies and the amount of tracking that can take place - legislation is not needed here!

If they didn't make anyone any money, they wouldn't exist. But they do
