Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has started an online business or website and if so, how much did they charge for advertising?

Its not an absolute value that given provided.It depends on the website and how its marketed and time span planned.If you want it quick and big,it costs you a lot.Costs for Marketing/Advertising is always relative.

It depends

Is it cost per click, cost per impression, monthly.... But in my experience, you can put 1$ on every 500 visits, so, if you have 50,000 monthly, you can pay banner for 100$. Or, 0,3$ for click and so on....
But it depends of thematic, quality of traffic....
