    Accounting Help?

I haven't had an "official" business until now, and so I'd like some tips on how to do my accounting and keeping records, etc. Thus far, I'd been using Excel to keep track of expenses, revenue, net income, etc. I know how to do financial statements and so on, but should I go ahead and use Quicken?

I've used Quicken, but for the most part, it appeared geared towards businesses that sell merchandise. I'm more in web development services and marketing. Are there particular applications that are better for services?

I have an LLC by the way, so not sure if it makes a difference in the way I keep my accounting records.

Most of my revenue is from freelance web development right now, but I will also be doing another large project next month that will be offline, and marketing/advertising. Is there a way to keep track of both of these using the same software, and what tips/advice can you give as far as that.

I would start out with Peachtree. It is what I use because it does everything you need and very easy to navigate. Also when you get larger because SAGE owns the products you can easily transfer your information to the next step higher. Look on EBay for a 2006 or 2007 version. I use 2006 standard and it is great.

I would go with Quickbooks... it gives you more choices in specialty software and is scalable as your company grows.. just my opinion

I have used Quicken for the last 5 years for my business and have found it to be an invaluable. I would not run my business without it.
