Aboriginal Business.....
This applies more to canadians but americans may also have an opinion. Here aboriginals have special programs for them to start thier business in addition to the standard programs offered to anyone that they may take advantage of. The government has special contests for business plans in which only aboriginal people can apply. Not to mention they get huge tax breaks once they are in business just because they are entrepreneurs. I think if they are making thier living off everyone else who came to this land just like everyone else the breaks should go out the window and they should join the competitive real world. All these special programs are promoting segregation, what are your guys thoughts on it?

This is similar to the hispanic population in the United States. Many of them immigrate illegally, and few get deported. Eventually, they are naturalized and live on wealthfare for some time. Then, they get to go to school for free, get grant money to start a business, and get great tax breaks. There are plenty of hispanics whom which this does not apply... this mainly applies to illegal immigrants.

Hopefully some day those grants will not be needed. For now the quality of life between aboriginals and the general population is too great, so encouraging development on the reserves in necessary.

I think that if you can get help doing what you want to do then its just gravy baby! Doesn't matter skin color, ethicity or what have you. Use it to your advantage!

hmmmm,
On one hand, these programs give assistance to distinct groups of people who might not otherwise have an opportunity. But on the other hand, it make these people 'special' and ignores the rest of the people.
I do not see the need to segregate anyone, especially in business. Anyone, regardless of sex or colour, should have to possess the same skills, education, knowledge etc when applying for business funding.

It is the reserves themselves that promote segreggation and dependence. I very much prefer grants for entrepreneurial effort over handouts.
However, the natives do not want a different approach (they want their own reserves with their own control). In this case the best the gov't can do is help get the native on their feet, and the only way to do this is to encourage innovation (through grants and low taxation).
