A little idea, not much thought put in.

OK, i need this evaluating. Today i found my parents looking for new kitchen utensils and thought of an idea. Instead of viewing them, how about people come round with a projector and project the slides on to your wall. This way people would see what they look like, in their own house. Rather then visiting a showrooom.

Please don't rip in to me, if you think this has no potential as i have no idea if it would, it was just a thought that popped in to my head.

you have think how would people feel having sales rep in their house, also you would need a dark room for the projector to be seen clear. I thnk also you would have to partner up with a company so they could direct the clients to you.

Never really thought of that, (most)old people wouldn't want it.
The idea was more aimed at companies, from which i would sell the technology too, if i did do this.

Or they bring the utensils to the customer. If you sell for Cut-co you bring show knives along, not just a catalog.

i think bringing products to a customer is much better then the customer going to the products. Although some people would feel harassed by this.

people still like the tangible goods, to be able to hold it in your hand is a big point in creating the sale...

I know, I remember back in the day when I used to sell Cutco.

I like that you're starting with problem formulation

As others have said, this particular problem (fitting kitchen utensils) does not lend it self to an elegant solution

The venture would work better with a different problem formulation

The problem: How to find a great fashion look?

The solution: Install a webcam in a clothing retailer where users can model clothes for a live, internet audience.

A website like ratemylook.com can be set up where fashion conscious, voyeuristic, young people can find others asking them for fashion feedback, find "hall of fame" or "best look of the week" fashion entries (possibly in the form of webcam screenshots), and where they can win the designation as a "fashion expert" having submitted a certain number of ratings.

The economics: Shops can pay a fee for having the webcams installed on their premises because this lets the shop differentiate themselves. Likewise, the shops may buy ads on the website, so that website users can order clothes they see on the site from the retailer.

The pitch: Call this thing "digg.com for fashion" or "fashion 2.0"

Great idea, i really like that. But live webcams? This would cause a problem, traffic would need to be huge for somebody to get a response before they buy the item of clothing.

How about, taking a picture, then paying a nominal fee, in which a group of expert's, from a certain age and sex would then vote. Then i could possible affiliate for some fashion sites & make money through the service. With a good thought out website & plan, i think it could be successful.
