    Hi earnest,

Disregard the other guys in the room. You should be applauded for taking the first step in entrepeneaurship and searching for interest in such an idea.

Watch out for alot of the 'Ego' which is thrown around this site. Alot of people seem to believe they are a big swinging ****.

I will send you a PM and we can have a chat.

    Cheers

jeez dude you have no idea what she has and what she hasn't. she can always raise the money and maybe she has connections. you can't just go around shooting down peoples ideas! if your trying to "save her from the hurt" it's not a good way to do it by saying her idea sucks. chill out! to tell the truth i'm not exactly well-to-do either but it doesn't stop me from trying. you may be "shutting down" that avenue but like it or not, people are getting in anyways

What i've thought of, is something like facebook and twitter, a social networking website, where a user is able create an account and a profile for himself, upload pictures and all sort of that. He will also be able to "twitter" about whats going on and stuff. So other than using as a social networking platform, most importantly users are able to use the website as a online classroom platform. A user for example a teacher, is able to gather his/her students on the website, set up a class group, hold a class or a meeting or presentation through a new window with the form of a chatroom or something like that.

The teacher will also be able to keep track of all the student's names on the side and lets say if a student wants to leave the "classroom" at any point of their lecture or meeting, the teacher and other students will be able track down the name of the studen who had just left, under maybe a small "left classroom" section at the bottom of the window or something like that. The teachers and students are also able to view every individuals profile on the list, just by clicking on their names and it will direct them to their respective profile page.

The tools that can be available in the website that might aid their lessons can be the regular tools you find in MS paint, or just basic art tools in case there's an art class going on, or a scientific calculator and other mathematical tools needed for a maths class up to probably Degree or even higher level. I was thinking of includinf a source page like Wikipedia for easy referencing whenever a user type in something and he wants to find out the definition to it, he/she can highlight the word and an option will appear, directing him/her to wikipedia for that specific definition. But im sure we can think of other ways to go about doing that as well, making it easier for referencing.

On top of all that, students will also be able to create project meeting groups and meet online under their respective class, maybe search format will go according to, [Country > City > School name > Class], having all the available functions as what a normal class can have as well, or maybe some entertaining applications for de-stressing purposes. Teachers and students will definitely be able to upload their own lecture or study notes and tagged it to their own classes or even schools, in order to share it around.
The target audience will be from middle school to universities. My idea is to use this website outside a classrom, whereby they will be able to attend a class at home or wherever they are.
A likely scenario would be, a teacher from high school decided to hold a last min lecture during the term break, but because its during the holidays for the students, some of them will not be able to attend class physically in school. Then the teacher can send out an email to everybody in the class, fix a date whereby everybody will use our website as an online classroom. The teacher will then be able to hold her lecture on our website with all the students present "virtually".
These are some of the stuff that i've thought of, i'm sure there may be a few websites out there that have some functions like that, maybe uploading notes and stuff but i dont think there is one that comprises of all what i've just mentioned.

Anyway do check out this site, Get Ready Reserve

    Regards,
    Earnest

    A very interesting idea Earnest.

There are elements of that idea that are already being used by students, but a full system for children k-12 and beyond would be very interesting. Although with what you want to accomplish, it would take allot of money to program and market. If you can, send me a PM with your email, I would like to discuss it further with you.

And what is that site you linked to below your post? I could not figure out what it was trying to sell...
