I've personally looked into it but for a sports betting 900#. Your main problem is going to be advertisements and general marketing. I hope you have a decent amount of money to spend because the advertisements that would be best(late night TV IMO) aren't cheap.

    a couple websites are
    www.paypercall.com
    www.custom900.com

You basically just pay an initial fee and they do all the rest except advertise.

Personally, I'd rather not be "marked" as a shady business person(900#'s arent exactly looked up to with all the potential fraud..etc. ) Plus you have to deal with people not liking the service and being able to say they never made the call.

    Hope this helps.
    Eric.

this is an old one but...

I have a few things to add to this.

    First and foremost... Hello everyone.

I have been running a business as a phone sex operator and owner of my own company since earlier this year.

There are several things you can do to start up a phone sex line.

    1. Do you want an automated system or are you ok with processing the CC information yourself?

Here are some of the pros of using a automated service:
CC information taken before caller even gets connected, to some callers this seems more "professional" then some guy or gal asking for the CC and entering it themselves, time efficient (with 800 numbers this is a concern).

cons: Costly % taken from call, porting your 800 line (if you already own one), costly set up.

    Processing the CC yourself:

Pros: you control how much you are charging the caller, some callers may like this better as it is more "personal", you pay your own 800 lines and thus have more control over this aspect.

cons: you must get a merchant account or find someone who will let you use theirs, timely as you have to take the callers CC and enter it yourself- you are not getting paid but it is costing you every minute on your 800, many callers will hang up costing you money, guys seeking freebies (they get off just by hearing your voice).

Personally I do both. I am with billpercall.com for one of my lines and my other line is billed through an MA (merchant account).

Advertising is another consideration. I started this out of my own pocket, no loans or anything. It takes time to build up business.

I advertise in XXX magazines which is expensive. I also do some internet and some papers.
