5,000 Door Hanger for $1000? Is that a good deal?

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is a good deal or not?

5000 door hangers, super high gloss, two sided design for $1000 dollars.

    Thanks...Robert

Honestly I know almost nothing about door hangers and their prices, but five dollars a door hanger seems like way too much.

I just searched it. This place has it for much cheaper. Here

Thank you! It actually comes out to about .15 cents a door hanger. 250 dollars for designing fees and to upgrade to super gloss and shipping is about 200 dollars.

You aren't truly calculating your cost if you removed the extras you are needing. 5000 divided by 1000 is still $1/each, not 15 cents each, no matter how you break it down. As an entrepeneur you have to factor all your costs, and will have trouble with the bottom line if you're selectively calculating them!

Yes, that's a lot of money. You can get a much better price than that. Don't just rely on the internet in this case. Your local printers that you find in the phone book may be able to give you better deals too.

Ok, really...can anyone here do math tonight? I'm thinking some of you guys need to logoff your computer and get some sleep.

0Googler0: $1000 divided by 5000 pieces is not $5 each.
BulaRae: $1000 divided by 5000 pieces is not $1 each.

$1000 divided by 5000 pieces is $0.20 or 20 cents per piece.

I'd suggest heading over to printingforless.com. They are fairly competitive with their pricing and produce high quality items.

Yep! You nailed it! I wasn't even focusing on the math, but the figure google had thrown out and in my haste put $1. Regardless of the math brain fart, what I said about calculating actual costs still holds true.

Insomnic: how are you going to distribute the doorhangers? In my area there are companies that do the printing and distribution together and they usually offer the combined services for less than it costs to do them individually. Just a thought...

I was a little scared reading this thread, too. And while I was writing my reply, I had to keep checking my math and the original post and the replies to make sure I wasn't just imagining it all.

Definitely correct about being aware of the full cost, not just one part of it such as printing. There may be additional shipping costs to get the door hangers from the printer to your business. And the distribution costs may be higher than the printing costs, depending on the company used. If you choose to hang them yourself, how much time, and therefore potential revenue, are you losing? Gas to drive from neighborhood to neighborhood?
