My own experience has led me to believe that they don't. I'm 18 now and I have never gotten a 10 minute haircut. The fastest haircut I have received was 20 minutes and that is excluding the wait.

I was just reading Free Prize Inside from Seth Godin and ran into a paragraph that reminded me of this thread.

Seth listed ten soft innovations that easily turned into purple cows and one of them was:

"QBNet: fast barbershops in Japan. Get a cut in one-sixth the time and for one-quarter the price. They've grown from 57,000 cuts a year in 1996 to more than 3.5 million haircuts in 2002."

I found a link for QBNet , which I really couldn't understand much even with Google's translation assistance.

This business is doing great in Japan but I still really don't see a market for it in the US or Canada. Our economies are on opposite ends of the scale, but I do think there might be opportunities if you focus on offering additional services as mentioned in previous posts.

Alright, back to reading.

When I was living in Canada, I'd go to supercuts, I think it's called.

I hate the dentist, I hate getting my hair cut, etc.

SuperCuts is expensive (like 13 or 14 bucks), but it took them about 10 mins on my hair. I was in and out, they do a quick but decent job, I am happy with everything except how much it costs.

By the way, I got the 'flobee' idea because my friend described something similiar....., and they still use it TODAY for kids. I still think it's a pretty creative idea and definately doesn't deserve an award for being the worst invention.

I think Hair Salons in an airport is a great idea. Next week I have an hour or two layover in Seattle -- I wonder if they have a hair salon??? Do they even allow scissors in an airport these days?

yeah Cheng said taht's how the express haircuts started in China, and than expanded to the cities. Like I previously suggested, Starting with expresss haircutting in the airport would be a grat place to start and introduce teh quick haircutting in the US.

They have a salon in the Van airport, so I am sure Seattle has one.

If they don't...... might be worth looking into as a business.

There are barber shops in a lot of the big airports already, but they do not offer anything like this.

I actualy watched some of teh cartoons on the supercuts website and they advertise how fast and easy it is to get a haircut there. their selling points are, cheap, fast, and stylish. You would have to see how you could improve nd how much better you could be then supercuts.
