jimmiejo, i dont wana argue or start preaching.
everyone business should aim for all three. price , quality and time. i dont know about US but in asia, people in the main city are very fast pace. i can honestly say that in places like tokyo, beijing and shanghai people are so busy and dont even have time for something else. the pace at which these asian cities are moving are faster then new york or wall street. u'll be surprised. take a flight over here and you will know
btw what's about this supercut thing?

I think it is a good idea if it works well. afterall time is money. But i would really be worried that it wouldn't be a good haircut, i like my hair to look good and don't mind it taking a bit more time to make sure it is a good haricut.

that might be better at like the airport, because everyone is usually short on time, or might have some spare time and realize they need a haircut.
I still don't think it's a good idea because New York is really the only city that is truly rushed and could use something like that. Most areas are more laid back and alot of areas have nothing to do(almost every region but northeast and 10 biggest cities).
I could cut someones hair in 10 minutes.....

I uploaded my photo and gave myself a nice haircut.

mxer210 good thinking. the first 10 min cut that appear in our country was at the airport basically the service is very good. all employees have to go through training classes before they can cut your hair. you get your hair air sucked (nothing new here, just making sure you dont have loose hair flying around after your haircut), all equipments are sterlized before using them on next customer, floor under your chair area vacuumed after every haircut(automated)....blah... hope this sparks something off...hehe
however the startup cost for the frachise is too expensive for me

i personally like salon cut hair better than a 10 min hair cut at supercuts, although for a guy it might be more practical because they usually have shorter hair and it will cost way less than a salon.

I would create a new product which revolutionizes haircuts. This idea would be great for guys and would speed up the times......
It's like a handheld vacuum and you point ti at their head and it sucks the hair perpendicular to the scalp, and it was a trimmer on the end. Different heights can be set. Like for me, here's how it would work. Set the height for 2 inches, and run it over my whole head. That would create all of my hair 2 inches long. Than set it at 1" and run it around the sides of my head, and boom, the haircut is done.
I'm not sure how well I explained it, but to speed up the haircut process, you'll have a new system to change the way its done.
I attached a picture for reference.

I personally like the idea. I live in Indianapolis, which is about the 13th largest city in the US. I am very short ton time, because I am a working professional who also is attending school. I have a family and I do not have time to sit around waiting for a haircut. Further, I actually cut my hair every week, but I do it myself. The quality is better than 90% of the places I have tried, and it is really cheap and extremely fast. It takes me about 10-15 minutes to cut my hair, and I do not even have to leave home. I usually cut it on Saturday mornings before I get in the shower.
That being said, there is a large populous who loves just hanging out at the salon/barber shop. Not so much now, but in the past, men would go and spend a couple of hours waiting at the barber shop, and they would talk about guy stuff, read the newspaper and watch sporting events. As far as women, they only usually get their hair cut once every other month or so, and that is usually frequent for them. They like to spend the time (they only say that it is inconvenient so you do not think they were out having a good time).
There is a market for it, and I think he airport idea is a great one. Personally, I think many of the fast paced, personal services that are in place in China would be welcomed here in North America, it would just take a little time. I know that I have a horrible time finding pants that fit in waist and length. If I only had to worry about the waist fitting and I could get them hemmed to any length in 3 minutes, that would be awesome. But instead, I go looking for about 5 pairs of pants and spend a few hours to only find one for two pairs. Further it would be great if they offered odd numbered sizes. There are a few brands that do, but none of them that are "professional." The ones that do are for teenagers. When I was a teenager 33" was my perfect waist size, now it would be 35." having to choose between 34" and 36" is pretty difficult.

lol interesting. but wont everyone have the same haircut? raising my arms up for about 5-10mins will be tiring.
Dus10 u serious? u trim every week yourself? i do that sometimes but find that its very tiring and the cutting might be inaccurate.
dont know about US but in asia people really love their hair alot. (most of them). for like girls they have rebonding(straightening of hair), thin cut for both guys and gals.... many style lol. do you guys over there use wax , mud or clay?
too bad i wont be going into this business. not until i build up enough wealth to target US market
