    10 Secrets

This sounds more like what the book "The Secret" always point out, but nevertheless they are all true. And I can see my brother as an example of it, cause now he's running his own company.

Just a tip to others.... it doesn't usually happen overnight. So whatever your dreams are, just keep thinking about it and don't get easily discouraged.

Thanks for the link. These tips underline the ones in the blog and may come in handy as well:

    1. Formulate your attack plan. You should start with finding the right product or service to sell. Do you have your own product or service to market or will you be marketing someone else's? A lot of people often come up with great ideas for products and/or services (and even develop them) only to find out later that nobody would want to buy them. Identify the particular products and/or services that are needed and identify your target market.

    2. Market. After deciding on a specific product or service, the next step is to market it. Your main goal is to captivate and hold the interest of the people
who could be your potential customers. With all the competition out there you often don't have a huge window of time to do this so a good first impression is always critical. There are many effective marketing strategies you can use depending on your time and budget constraints. Inform your family and friends about your business to get the ball rolling with some vital word of mouth credibility. Advertise in newspapers, using business cards, flyers, and especially on the Internet. Internet marketing is a must in the 21st century.

    3. See things through. Perhaps the key to a successful home business is the ability to follow through. Having made contact with your target market through your advertisements, you should expect people to get in touch with you. They will ask for information relating to the products or services or the business opportunity you may be offering. Don't be shy to call them if they leave you their phone number. They gave it to you for a reason. Talking to your potential clients/partners will make them realize that there is a real person behind your business whom they can consult whenever they have questions or need guidance.

    4. Stay current. It is always wise to take advantage of the technologies available to you. Thanks to the Internet, home-based businesses can now cater to millions of people worldwide, 24 hours a day, using minimal effort (because of the automated system) and the minimal cost associated with it.

    5. Stay positive. In the final analysis, what is important is having the right attitude towards your business. There will always be challenges, no matter how foolproof your strategy is. You have to believe in your ability to succeed, to have passion and courage, and to never give up.

Results differ from one person to the next. That is the nature of all business. However, by following these simple steps you will greatly increase your odds of building a successful business.

Yes it is all true. However, it is kind of re-inventing the wheel. There isn't any new advice there that hadn't already been covered many many years ago time and time again. But that doesn't devalue it, always worth a reminder! Sometimes common sense is so obvious that you miss it!

A lot of people don't know about this stuff as obvious as it is. And many people forget or fail to do it. They are said to be secrets because not enough people either follow them or know about them. If we all did, we would have everything we want.

Couldn't agree more. The keyword being 'compliance'. As you say, not enough people know the simple principles, and a lot of those that do won't comply with them.

I like it when you said that "success is a marathon, not a sprint". Success looks so easy when you're watching or listening to someone who has achieve it. But what they forgot to note is that it often took years and a lot of hardwork before any kind of success can be achieved.

There are no shortcuts, no matter what people say.
Starting on a journey... and getting there

Those who experience 'quick success' have often done so on a fluke. The real success is in the eng-game. Can that quick success be capitalized on? Can you make it last, and if not, do you have a viable exit strategy that leaves you with money in your pocket.

Shinta is right, hard-work is the underlying factor in creating a lasting (and profitable) business. Couple hard-work with good business practise and favorable market conditions and you stand a significantly better chance of success.
