Due to some reasons I could afford to go to a regular college and wait for completing my education and then get a job. But the quest of knowledge and the desire to study further made me go for online education. I, therefore, enrolled myself into an online business degree. Today I can say that I am in a good position to get all the luxuries of life with a decent pay package in one of the most reputed companies in the US. All I can say that one should never stop studying and working hard.
Well you know you can't run a business part time, during college, espeically the final year. College becomes almost like a full time job AND MORE.
Let's not forget that many successful business people who managed to start their business during college had to choose between college or business, thus they dropped out. Which tells you a lot really. Bill Gates was one of them I think, but there are a few other people I've networked with that have done the same.
College degree is still valuable and a lot of people see it as a great personal accomplishment, even though college degrees dont really mean much any more in the real world. it's still a giant personal feat and many mature people whove developed their careers decidee to go back to college at a later stage eeven though they don't need it.
I'm a full time business student at the University of Manitoba, and I've been running my own start-up, CitiGrow Inc., while completing my post-secondary education. Personally, I don't think there is ever a better time to start a business than when you're in college/university. Yes, it can be a very large workload at times, but the experience, skills and knowledge you acquire have unquantifiable value.
1. You get to have all the resources of business school at your disposal while working on your business (profs, textbooks, libraries, events, etc).
2. Juggling school and your business forces you to become a master of productivity. For myself, I've found David Allen's Getting Things Done system to be extremely effective.
3. Your risks will never be lower. A lot of my friends claim they want to start their own companies someday, but are afraid to do it now because it doesn't seem right to start a business while still in school. My response is, when will there ever be a better time to start a business? When you have a mortgage? When your family is counting on you for steady income? I'd much rather make my mistakes and grow my business to critical mass when I'm young and don't have all that personal overhead to worry about.
4. Even if you just run your business part time, the knowledge you'll gain from it will be extremely valuable once you finish school and pursue your venture full time. It will save you tons of money and time in the long run.
5. Everything you learn in the classroom is useless unless you know how to apply it to the real world. Business is a lot like swimming. Just because you read a book on swimming doesn't mean you know how to swim. The only way to learn how to swim is to jump in the pool.
To summarize, I've found I've been able to manage both my schooling and my business while maintaining an active social life. You just need to make the time to do it (I rarely watch TV, never play video games, don't have any personal social media accounts, etc). I also know that running my business is one of the most rewarding aspects of my life, and I would never even consider depriving myself of that pleasure until finishing school.
I am a working student and finished my study with my hardwork in my job. I neve ask any help from my parents that is why they are really proud of me when I graduated. Also I am very proud of my self too, especially when I start my small coffee shop. Small one by I can say that it is owned by me![]()
i am studying mechanical engineering.when came to my college first ,i had dreams of becoming a great engineer and to earn money..but what im thinking now is to start somrthing so that i may not need to depend on others..students here are studying for their examinations..no one still know what they are going to do after completing thieir degree.its always a good choice to become an entrepreneur rather than a nerdy engineer..!
Starting business in college or in university is a nice experience, also you should work hard if you want to get good results.
