    College Text Books

I am from Maryland and have been doing a college textbook buyback business for the past two years now. It first started with my own books and then I started to buy books that my friends had.(some even just gave them too me) You can easily sell these books on amazon for a huge profit margin.
Let me know if anyone else has done this or is interested to learn how!

I am not too familiar in that market. I simply became an ebay/amazon seller and those websites really did all the hard work. I just had to mail them out.

Its awesome to hear someone who actually has done this! I have thought about trying to do the same thing, but whenever finals come around I never really get around to it. About how many books do you usually buy each semester? And how do you figure out what to offer people for each book, do you just look it up on eBay and see how much its selling for?

Yeah once summer comes by, the motivation surely does go out the window! Depending on my capital at the end of the year I try to buy 25-50 books. I make sure that I can turn the book for 50%. What I really like to do is contact the people in my class right after our last class (before the final). I do this because they won't have the chance to go to the book exchange.
With regards to offering money if I own the book I will go to the book store and see what they are offering. Then I compare that with amazon and see if there is money to be made.
At this point most kids just want to get rid of their books as quick as they can. Just try to get them early, offer a generous price (at first, and hope they come back next year, then you can lower the price). Hope this helps, anything else, feel free to ask!

    Nick.

Really nice idea and being a book worm myself it's cool that those books are getting in new hands, it's better than when they are getting destroyed or pushed into garbage bags. Good job.

I've been doing it myself - buying used from amazon and then selling back. Saves hundreds of bucks every semester! I really hate it when the edition goes out of date though and then you lose sooo much of what you paid for (bought it for $100 can now sell it for 10$)

This is a good idea to share books and spread education and also making money. How do you come across this idea? Can you tell me what kind of books you offer I mean for which stream or courses??

How are you doing this? Our book store offers 50% of the value of any book it sells, so if I'm selling my book, I know I'm not going to take less than half of what i paid.

You can offer 60%, but then you have to markup the book in order to make a profit, and buyers especially college students know where and how to find the cheapest books.

Seems like a lot of work for nickles and dimes imo.
