It depends. You must both have more friends in Facebook and more followers in Twitter in order for you to provide traffic to your website or blog. Regardless of traffic, I found Facebook much better because I am earning $150 everyday through it.

It all depends on what you want. Twitter is good because you can instantly communicate with thousands of followers at once, which is great if you want to advertise your business.

Both Facebook and twitter are very effective sites in social media and networking to bring traffic. Facebook is used for large content sharing and posting with images within their friends circles, on the other hand twitter is specially used for micro blogging to visits a large no. of followers at a time.

Both can be used effectively, I have always had much better results from using Facebook. However, twitter definitely has its place and I think the "best" is really based on your industry/business.

What does your business do, and what is your target audience?

Generally social media is good to help build your reputation as a business and develop positive relationships with customers and the community as a whole. I would not expect to get huge immediate increases in traffic from using social media. You have to build your facebook and/or twitter accounts with quality followers/fans if you want to get quality organic traffic to your site, and this almost never happens overnight.

As a side note, I would be weary of anyone trying to sell likes or follows. 99.9% of the time these are either scams or you just get a bunch of fake accounts following you which does not provide much value.

One method of gaining quality followers that we used is running sweepstakes where individuals enter by "liking" our Facebook page. You can then use paid Facebook advertising to promote the sweepstakes. We generally gained about 10-15 fans per day and spent between $3.00-$5.00 daily on ads to promote the sweepstakes. You also have to factor in the cost of the prize when making a decision to run a sweepstakes.

Twitter is definitely better i think in terms of a business perspective. Facebook is more social and friendly use. more and more people are using or checking Twitter more nowadays

FaceBook is better. Facebook is not the first social network but it is the most popular one. There have been many other social networks before Facebook and while some of them were popular at some point in time, none could reach the popularity of Facebook. In addition to keeping in touch with your friends, Facebook can be used for business. You can use it to promote your products and services, to acquire new clients, or to get traffic to your site.
