Both are networking tools and networking is about building relationships. This is important to understand. It's not about promotion but about interacting with others. So with Twitter you need to respond to Tweets as well as contributing your own and with Facebook you need to encourage discussions and then participate in those discussions. Visually Facebook has a lot more to offer for viewers but Twitter provides faster options for growing your followers. I suggest you use both and make sure they are linked so that a post to one can be published on the other and vice versa.

Facebook, although it's harder to populate. I like the option of being able to show what you're promoting in a link opposed to an ambiguous twitter bit.ly or something to that extent.
