Young Entrepreneur Looking To Start Making Money

Hi everyone,

I'm 17 years old and in my second semester of grade 12. I plan to go into kinesiology/exercise science. I'm taking a year off between highschool and college to collect myself and complete some pending goals I am working on, mainly personally development. I have taken 3 business classes in highschool and I am midway through one now. I consider myself smart, but I am currently unemployed.

Recently the idea of being an entrepreneur and working from home doing something I am skilled at, like technology and computers, has REALLY appealed to me. I have an above-average knowledge of computers and all aspects of computers. I wouldn't say an extraordinary knowledge because I don't know any programming languages. Some accomplishments I have done in the past six months that I am proud of are building a desktop computer, and saving my parents over $50 a month by dealing with entertainment companies.

Right now I'm just ready to absorb information. Podcasts, websites, books, anything to get me started on the right track to set me up to become closer to understanding and being more successful in future business. Being able to work from home off a website (or a few) would be a dream. My goal is to be happy, and make money.

I apologize for the lengthy introduction but I am very excited to be here and as mentioned would appreciate any and all help I can get.

Welcome to YE! Great to have you here as part of the community. It's very cool that you're looking to become an entrepreneur. You seem to write well, so a good place to begin might be to start writing a blog. Regardless of what business you end up doing, blogging is a great way to get your name and expertise out there.

In case you're not aware, blog posts are indexed by the search engines almost immediately, whereas regular web sites can take months to begin showing up. Also, you can start a blog on Blogger.com, WordPress.com or several others at no cost.

When you get a minute, check out this article on blogs every blogger should read, over at our other site, Blogtrepreneur.com. It's a good place to start.

Thanks for the post. Although I am some what familiar with what you have posted it brings me comfort and reassurance that I've found a place to get information on this sort of thing.

I plan to start a blog of some sort soon. I will bookmark the Blogtrepreneur site and read it over tonight for sure, thanks for the link.

Currently I am just getting my feet wet but can't wait to organize myself and try out an idea and eventually be running a handful of quality blogs and/or websites, and then reach some form of success.

Hi there GGB Welcome to YE I'm also new like yourself, I have the same goals, I'm just starting to get my feet wet, I have started 1 blog and have gotten 1 quality post on it. I'm aiming to fill it and update it, I also have content on squidoo which was worth writing about.

My main aim is to fill the blog with useful business advice and also give reviews on certain products, also talk about interesting recent topics. I think it will be awesome being in the loop and also learning what all the buzz is about.

+ also using it to achieve some success and create a alternative income from my blogs is another goal.
