    tommygunn here....

Hello all. I am a 29 year old average 9 to 5 guy looking for a better way. I am a man of many interests and am very determined to start my own business, but just need to interact with other people who want more in life as well. I hope to one day become a savy investor, but want to focus on starting my own business for the time being. My current plan is Dogs!! I have a two year old male boxer named rocky and am looking for a female to begin breeding. Money is tight so I hope I can start small and someday own my own kennels and dog breeding business. Any advise or direction I can get from any of you would be extremely appreciated. Can't wait to get out of the rat race.. thanks!!

Hi Tommy, welcome. My main advice would be to put yourself in a position where running that business, even part-time, is as important as going to your 9-5 job or brushing your teeth. Prepare to trade your free time with the television the buddies at the bar working on the business instead (it's not as bad as it sounds). Try not to treat the business as something that is ok to fail.

If you are a true risk-taker, attach something to your livelihood on it. For example, you go to your 9-5 every day because if you didn't you wouldn't be able to survive month to month! So your 9-5 is attached to your livelihood, thus you go every day... if you can also attach an equal dependency to your new business, it will be harder to allow it to fail.

Best of luck in your venture.
