As far as my personal business, its still on the small end while i gain more capital to buy in a larger bulk, and eventually be able to import. As far as uniqueness I see it as a business that really wont go anywhere because EVERYONE needs/owns/has a pair of sunglasses, now how much you decide to pay for them is a personal choice. Its a booming business, during the spring/summer is peak season north of the hemisphere, but during our fall/winter you gotta go down south, south africa, latin america, the Caribbean. Buying dozens for as low as 6-8$ per and flipping each piece at 5-10$ or dozens for 18+. Most business comes from trade shows, simply because some customers like to see the product and not emailed pictures. As far as web selling, obviously must be SEO'd. Giveways can always be done to generate more traffic to the site, offer a forum for fashion lovers.

    Hi Robert,

Welcome to the site and your story sounds very interesting. A couple quick questions I guess.

-Are you branding the glasses or are you just selling them as generics like the many stands on Venice Beach?

-How do you account for quality control for the product?

I am sure I will have more questions and all of your contributions to the site are greatly appreciated!

    Dave,

    Glad to be here.

I am not branding the glasses, so they will be just like the stands on venice and many other places. Branding of glasses would be considered a custom order which is about 10k for 100dozen glasses. Which might be a possibility down the line once I gain more capital.

Quality control of the product, seeing as how I work at the manufacturer I see the product first hand. The company has been in business for over 25years manufacturing various items, from handbags, bongs, glasses, lighters and everything in between.
Quality of the product is superb or else companies like BMW, Abercrombie, Target & Active to name a few would not have came to us to produce their product.

Welcome Robert. What price range are your glasses? Have you thought about doing a cart in the mall? I know there is one in the mall by me and they have some nice looking ones that are not super expensive. I bought two pairs for my wife for Christmas.

I might try a cart in the future for my business, but I'm still doing my due diligence on it.

I agree with you about the giveaways. I typically target bloggers.

It all depends on quantity bought but for an average order of lets say 20+dz anything between the 12-31$/dz range with most averaging 17$/dz. The thing with those carts at the mall is that they are from NYS a sunglasses manufacturer, they pay each mall an average of 6500$ to makesure they are the only sunglass cart in the mall.
