new project www.adoptree.com
Hello,
I'm glad to present you, guys, a new project - www.adoptree.com
As a co-founder of that start-up, I'm very happy that it has finally started functioning.
It took us more than half a year to make it real. It's too long, I guess, for e-commerce sphere, but anyway..
Adoptree.com is a distant service of planting trees in any part of the world.
We began from Lake Baikal (which is in Russia) just because we now live here, and the lake is really fascinating.
Currently we offer any person in the world an opportunity to plant a tree near lake Baikal and track how it grows
through our reports and photos.
We plan to develop this business in other countries, so, we'll need partners very soon
I'll be happy to get any comment concerning the idea of the project, our web site, or any other thought that might appear.
I know this stuff will work out in a short term period, but probably you can offer another way to stay afloat on a
long-term prospective. That is truly another crazy idea, I believe, but we all like it!

I like your idea, do let me know how it does.
Could be interested in being a partner in the future.

What is for partnership, Mark,
what it takes is to find several partners for different business processes
(they are obvious - planting, souvenir manufacturing, plaque manufacturing, delivery). Soon we should prepare set of documents - think it will be franchising scheme.
It is important to choose in your country most touristic/beautiful/just popular place for planting trees (like Baikal in Russia). It is a big thing.

Thats a pretty interesting project - but I believed the cost to "Plant a tree" is high, you should try to do something between $25-50. Try to teamup with some Green NGO's, get some sponsors. A Japaniese version could bring you some business also, Japan people are very open to such concept..

Thanks for the post and ideas. What do you think of a shared adoption? This gives a background for a community and fun? Now we are thinking of revising the prices significantly, though the breakeven point is pretty high...

shared adoption for group like school class, companies.. just imagine the potentials of primary/secondary school that could be interested!.. eh?.. but then you hv to accept payment other than credit card.. and also have some kind of blog stuff within your website that can let the people of a "group" - school class etc.. to keep in touch with their "tree" :-)

Yeah, that's cool. Classes could truly be interested in that. As any other people as well.
We actually do have an option of standard interbank payment. But it is much more difficult to make it all happen on the run then. Would you personally share an adoption of a tree if it cost you 30 bucks, for instances, and get regular reports, pics of the tree, or even visit it some day? In Russia or some other spot in the world?
Could anyone else share their ideas on the project too?

You could think about developing a kind of franchaising option, where you sell for X dollars your concept, like http://london.adoptree.com to a someone willing to start same in London. This is another revenue potential.
$30 for a group to adopt a tree is possible. A class room approx 30 pupils - mean, 1 buck per head..
I will personally suggest franchaising way of expanding per city - not country. If you get 200 cities + percentage on tree adoption, in the short term you can generate good income.

When I say 30 bucks I mean 30 bucks per person when we say that there are 10 persons who pay cause of the high breakeven. For pupils it could be much lower, though since there 30 of them.
Yes, we think of franchise, but not now since we need to test the biz model prior to expanding and polish the code.
