    New Member From Ohio!

Hello everyone! Just thought I would join the forum tonight seeing as I have been doing a great amount of lurking around here. I am a 23 year old recent college graduate (Business Administration and Business Management) here in Ohio. I am currently employed, but as I am finding out more and more each day, I want to start my own business.

I think it all started when I was younger seeing my two uncles who had businesses always having money. I have been asked what I want to do now that I graduated college and the answer has remained the same. I want to start my own business. I am very good at buying and selling off of Craigslist and Ebay and do it weekly, but I do not want to base a business off of that. I also do photography as a hobby but have not been trained in it and am by no means a professional.

I believe I am scared of failure and want to find that perfect "idea" to base my business off of. That is why I am here. I need to know if I should go for something I am trained in (business related) or something I enjoy (buying/selling, technology, photography). I also do not have the cash to just start up anything I want (I play that broke college kid role still )I am looking forward to getting to know some of you on the forum. Thanks!

    Bucky,

I was just like you when I first got out of college. I ended up working somewhere for five years though before I started my first business. I recommend you do the same. Even five years wasn't enough for me to gain the wisdom I really needed.

I recommend getting a job working at whatever kind of work you find interesting. Find a small company to work for. Ask the owner of the company for a private meeting. Tell him that you are looking for an experienced business man to take you on as an apprentice so that you can learn the ropes. I know a lot of business owners. Having some recent college grad approach you and ask you to pass on your business wisdom would be like a dream come true to any experienced business owner. They will think you are the smartest, most ambitious kid on the planet. Learn from them. Soak up everything you can. When the time is truly right for you to launch your own enterprise, you will know it. You will be much more likely to succeed.

Even though you think you have a lot of knowledge under your belt already, I promise you that you won't realize how clueless you really are until you are failing in your own business. Get some experience first. Some day you will see the wisdom in what I have said here.

    Hello BuckyyN8,

I am also a recent college grad in Columbus, Oh. I currently buy/sell smartphones off of craigslist and I am looking for good business ideas/parnters. I have a bit of funds, more than many recent college grads. It seems like we have few things in common. Maybe we can exchange some ideas. Get back to me if interested
