Introduction for two hopeful entrepreneurs :)
Hello everyone,
Just brief post to introduce myself and my girlfriend.
I'm 20 years old, and I'm from England. I've been in full time work since the age of 16, I have been working in law since 17 and have managed to forge what would have been a lucrative career. However, to cut to the point, I have a real problem with working for other people and putting in the present 60 hour week I do to make somebody else rich.
I have a real passion for business and building something from scratch, and have been very "pumped up" so to speak since I decided that I would like to work for myself. I do not hold any qualifications in business, nor do I have any experience in running an organisation, so I am prepared for a very bumpy, difficult, yet thoroughly enjoyable learning/growing experience.
I am not a person who believes that lack of formal education holds anybody back, I left school at 16 for a wide range of reasons, two of them being that I prefer hands on practical experience and I enjoy making money. This is the attitude I took with my legal career and it seems to be working out nicely (aside from the fact I do not enjoy the profession, but you live and learn!)
My partner is just finishing up higher education, and studied business at college, she has a good business mind and is a bit more sensible and cautious than me (which is a very positive thing as I need someone to keep me in check!). I know that we are going to work very well together and I think that we both bring unique and useful talents to the table.
My girlfriend and I have had a few prospective business ideas, we have settled on a particular one in which we will be entering into partnership. Unfortunately I am going to have to continue to work full time until we can support ourselves from other income streams (quite a long time I imagine!) so that we can afford to pay the bills, but luckily my partner has a bit more free time to devote, and I happen to be a bit of a nocturnal creature who can function on very little sleep, so we are going to put a lot of hard work into this.
We have just put together an initial summary of our business and an action plan of where we are going with this, we are kind of winging it a bit to be honest, but neither one of us can wait to get our teeth into this. We have quite a lot to plan/prepare before we can think of launching, but we are trying to be as proactive as possible.
I've been browsing these forums for a couple of days, and have noticed what a fantastic, friendly community there is here, who I may occassionaly bother for the odd bit of advice!
This is a joint forum account for both my partner and I, however it will mostly be me on here when posting. Anyway, I look forward to talking to you all in the near future, and possibly working with some you should the oppurtunity arise.
There's only room for one bigmouth in my organisation, and that's me.
