Introducing Myself

Hello Everyone,

I joined this site because I felt this would be a good networking opportunity and a chance to get some feedback

I'm not an enterpeneur per se, but me and a couple of my friends have created a non-profit org here on campus and in running this organization I found it similiar to running a small company, establishing credibility, holding meetings, setting deadlines, attracting talent, etc.

So if you could please visit the website thefuturesociety.tripod.com and please tell me what you think any advice you may have

Thanks

nice to have you here

see, I am a pretty boring person. shareholders and LPs use me to make money, I also like sailing, every so often I have an existential crisis, and that's about it.

what sort of advice are you looking for and what's with the whole futurism thing? I do high tech, is that something you guys are into?

Thumbs up

Hello. Good move running the non-profit on campus. You are correct that it is very similar to running a regular business in the real world. Some friends of mine and I actually started a non-profit on our campus and later took it off campus to make it a full-fledged for-profit business. It will look great on your resume. Good luck!

From your website, I couldn't really figure out what exactly it is that you do, but it appears to be community service oriented. I couldn't figure out who the "unheard masses" were that you were speaking of. I am sure that the site communicates your agenda fine to your target audience though. My only suggestion would be better website design. I wouldn't have it switch page designs every time that you click on a link. I would leave the menu on the left side up on every page and keep the overall background the same. Just my 2 cents. Again, good luck!

The Future comes from a number of diffrent sources, but nothing really to do with hi-tech, it's pretty much ties in with the ideas of the org, "the Future" is what you make it. depending on what you do today you shape the future, so by naming ourselves the future we are sort of saying we are putting ourselves in charge of our own destiny/ it also ties in with our motto, In a Constant of Evolution meaning, always changing, always growing, always improving, like the future which can change at the drop of hat/ also all of our founding members come from a high school org called "I Have a Future"

Thanks for the advice I'll work on making purpose more clear, also the "unheard masses" was somewhat of a first draft phrase which should have been revised some time ago.( that was my fault) What type of website design software or website programs would recommend looking into

Shoot me a pm and i can help steer you in the right direction. it really depends on your budget, your computer experience, and your knack for design.
