rogercbryn : a fake confidence is acceptable? How's that?

It's how you are perceived by the world that counts. I could be having the worst day of my life, but if a client or even a staff member asks me how I'm doing they get an "OUTSTANDING". My clients don't want to be represented by someone who thinks the sky is falling and my staff members don't want to work for a depressed grumpy boss.
Fake confidence is acceptable and in may cases leads to real confidence. Have you ever heard the expression 'fake it till you make it'?
I'm going through this with my younger brother (23). He didn't graduate from HS (has GED) and he never went to college. He's been very depressed lately because he can't find work and he's lost what little confidence he had. We've been exploring different educational and occupational opportunities for about a month. He's not the 4 year college type nor is he the fast food worker type. I tell you this so that you see that you are not the only one in a rut right now.
I continue to tell him that his lack of confidence is whats holding him back. If you walk into an interview and already know you are not going to get the job... well... guess what... you don't. It's the same in business. If you don't have a good personal outlook on life then you are bound to fail.
Back to my point.... do what ever it takes to appear confident anytime you communicate with another person. After a while you may actually begin to feel real confidence.
